International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons will visit Jamaica for the first time, marking a pivotal moment in the growth of the Paralympic Movement in the Caribbean. His visit, from February 2 to February 6, aims to strengthen regional development, forge strategic alliances, and enhance opportunities for Para athletes.
Christopher Samuda, President of the Jamaica Paralympic Association (JPA), emphasized the visit’s significance, describing it as both a milestone and a strategic forum. “This will be more than just a historic visit—it will be a working session where athletes, stakeholders, and partners engage in meaningful dialogue to advance the business of sport,” he stated.
Parsons will be joined by Michele Formonte, Executive Director of the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC), as part of a broader effort to strengthen ties between the region and global Paralympic leadership. Their discussions will focus on institutional growth, athlete development, and enhancing the competitive landscape for Para sports.
Since assuming the IPC presidency in 2017, Parsons has championed inclusion and development worldwide. His visit represents a key step in expanding Jamaica’s Paralympic ambitions, laying the groundwork for future success in Para sports.
