The Jamaica Paralympic Association Announces A+U Architects’ Visit: Laying The Foundation For a High Performance Training Academy

The Jamaica Paralympic Association (JPA), in collaboration with the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC) and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), has organized an important visit by A+U Architects to Jamaica from May 12 to 16, 2025. This initiative is backed by the Ministry of Gender, Entertainment, Culture and Sport (MGCES) and the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona.

The visit is a pivotal moment for the Grassroots Project, which aims to promote inclusive sports and establish Jamaica as a regional hub for Paralympic development. Patricia Squella and Karlha Andrade from A+U Architects will conduct a thorough review of Jamaica’s sports facilities, lodging options, and transport networks to identify accessibility enhancements.

A major highlight of this project is the planned creation of a High-Performance Training Centre/Academy exclusively for para-athletes, which has already attracted strong sponsorship interest.
