Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), feels Jamaica can play an important role in the growth of the regional movement.
The Brazilian Parsons, who has supervised the IPC for over a decade, came to Kingston on Sunday for his first visit to a Caribbean nation.

During his five-day tour, Parsons will meet with many local sports stakeholders, including Sports Minister Olivia Grange, to discuss how the IPC can assist in improving the situation of para sports in Jamaica.
Parsons feels that the efforts of the Jamaica Paralympic Association (JPA) throughout the years should be repeated throughout the Caribbean.
“Jamaica is the leader in the development of the Paralympic movement in the Caribbean so it’s important to understand how from here we can support the other nations as well, bringing all the different nations in the Caribbean — with Jamaica leading it — to their next level of development,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
