The Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort in St. Thomas US Virgin Islands will be the venue of a workshop form November 6 – 9 for Caribbean national Paralympic Committees and Olympic Committees as they seek to establish synergies and collaborative approaches for their mutual benefit.

The Jamaica Paralympic movement will be represented by the Association’s Director Randy Jones who leaves the island on November 5.

The workshop, an initiative of the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games Organising Committee in partnership with the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees, is designed to ensure the promotion of para-sports in the Caribbean countries.

Mr. Jones indicated that among other objectives which hopefully will be achieved in discussions of the relationship between national Olympic Committees and Paralympic Committees is the establishment of NPCs in countries where none exist to complement the national olympic committees and to create a viable platform for the implementation of collaborative programmes.

Jamaica’s Olympic Committee and Paralympic Committee enjoy a very strong relationship and is often cited as a model for other movements to emulate.
